Contact Therapist

As a trained clinical psychologist I have run a psychotherapy practice for the past 16 years, working with adults and children.  Adults may enter psychotherapy for many reasons ranging from the ordinary difficulties that life throws up to more crippling symptoms of depression or anxiety. I always take a few sessions to assess where each person is at before making any recommendations. This also gives a client time to get a sense of me as a therapist. Longer-term psychotherapy provides the opportunity to examine the deeper processes at work within each person, and can make significant and lasting changes to a person’s life and relationships. As a therapist I am committed to this joint venture, both as a form of treatment and as a creative process during which a person can come to feel more fully alive. I offer short-term psychotherapy to people who, for example, are undergoing a period of adjustment, or need to make a major decision, or who wish to gain insight into a difficult situation. I am also trained in EMDR for trauma: a short-term treatment, highly effective for shock and anxiety symptoms following traumas such as crime incidents, accidents, sudden bereavement, assault etc. (Adults and children) Children: Some parents have concerns about their children, but are wary of placing them into long-term therapy. Before recommending any therapy for children, I do a thorough assessment (5 to 8 sessions), including full feedback and recommendations. Things can often improve during this assessment process. If ongoing therapy is needed, play therapy is a form of treatment in which I help a child to address his or her psychological difficulties – and enhance emotional well-being – through the medium of imaginative play.
